Background
Durham Technical Community College (Durham Tech) is seeking proposals from qualified, experienced, and sustainability-focused vendors to provide and service combo snack and beverage vending machines at designated locations on campus. Founded in 1961, Durham Tech's mission is to champion learning and success, deliver outstanding teaching and service, and develop career skills for today and tomorrow. The College serves over 17,000 students across its various campuses in Durham and Orange counties.
Work Details
The vendor will be responsible for providing combo snack and beverage vending services that include:
- Supplying new or like-new equipment;
- Stocking a variety of snack and beverage products that meet consumer demand including healthy options;
- Servicing machines at least once a week during standard business hours;
- Providing trained personnel for loading, maintenance, and technical repairs;
- Ensuring all products are labeled with nutritional information;
- Maintaining compliance with health regulations;
- Handling customer complaints effectively.
The product mix must include carbonated and non-carbonated beverages, healthy snacks, general snack items, and may include food products that can be held at room temperature. The vendor must also ensure that machines are equipped with credit/debit card readers compliant with PCI standards.
Period of Performance
The contract will have an initial term of three (3) years starting from the effective date or July 1, 2026, whichever is later. There is an option for two additional one-year renewals at the discretion of Durham Tech.
Place of Performance
Services will be performed at multiple locations including:
- Main Campus (1637 E. Lawson St, Durham, NC);
- Duke Street North Campus (3414 N. Duke St, Durham, NC);
- Northern Durham Center (2401 Snow Hill Rd, Durham, NC);
- Orange County Campus (525 College Park Rd, Hillsborough, NC).
Bidder Requirements
Vendors must be registered with the North Carolina Secretary of State before entering into a contract with Durham Tech. They must demonstrate financial stability by completing a certification form. Vendors are required to provide references from similar projects they have completed in the past. Additionally, no portion of the work may be subcontracted without prior written consent from Durham Tech.
