Government Center Veteran's Monument

Scope of Work:
The contract involves the construction of the Government Center Veteran's Monument at the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487. The work will take place on the exterior south plaza along S 7th Street and includes the following tasks:

• Soils correction and earthwork
• Construction of partial concrete walls and footings
• Installation of granite cladding on concrete walls
• Lighting installation
• Landscaping
• Creation of a circular brick-paved gathering space with a central circular Peace Garden
• Installation of a monument sign with a granite base and granite top, featuring engraved text near the Peace Garden
• Construction of two concrete walls with granite cladding and granite caps at the north end of the paved area, which will serve as the base for artist-provided and artist-installed steel sculptures
• Attachment of artist-installed steel sculpture to concrete walls using anchor bolts (provided and installed by the artist)
• Engraving of text on granite stone panels facing the Peace Garden
• Installation of linear lights to accent the steel sculpture and granite text panels

The granite material for this project must be sourced from Coldspring USA to match the existing granite onsite. Coldspring anticipates a 30-week lead time for delivery and will deliver the stone to the site on a flatbed truck. The contractor is responsible for unloading the granite onsite and must have sufficient equipment available on the delivery date to unload the granite from Coldspring's flatbed truck. Paving units will be furnished by Hennepin County; however, the contractor is responsible for their installation.
