New Bedford Parks and Rec Sports Equity Consultant

Background
The City of New Bedford Department of Parks, Recreation, and Beaches is seeking a Sports Equity Consultant to advance equitable access to youth sports. This position is grant-funded through the National Recreation & Park Association and MUSCO Lighting. The goal is to enhance participation in youth sports programs within city parks.

Work Details
The Sports Equity Consultant will conduct an equity analysis of youth sports operations, programs, and policies in city parks, including recreational programs, leagues, and private sports clinics. The consultant will develop a list of activities and policies to increase equitable sports participation.

Collaboration with the National Recreation and Parks Association is required to assess the impact of implemented strategies through methods such as sharing program metrics, conducting surveys, focus groups, and interviews with local stakeholders. Deliverables include:
1) A written report detailing the equity analysis;
2) A list of recommended activities/policies for increasing equitable participation;
3) Development of stories, photos, videos, and written content for sharing.

Period of Performance
The project must be completed by June 30, 2025.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
