Background
Sarasota County intends to renew a sole source purchase with Team Industrial Services, Inc. for the provision of InsertValves and training. Team Industrial Services is the sole source manufacturer and training authority of InsertValve, which is protected by U.S. patents 6,776,184 and 7,225,827. The County may cancel this sole source and advertise a competitive solicitation if other respondents demonstrate the ability to supply similar products or services.
Work Details
The contract includes the provision of InsertValves manufactured by Team Industrial Services, which feature several benefits for underground infrastructure:
1) Resilient wedge seats on the valve body that do not put pressure on the pipe;
2) True MJ connections allowing for future downstream pipe replacement;
3) Repairable moving parts under pressure even if the stem breaks.
The contract also includes training services related to the use and maintenance of InsertValves.
