Background
The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is seeking a contractor for bridge sweeping services on Interstate 65 and Interstate 565 in the North Region/Tuscumbia Area, District 4. The goal of this contract is to maintain the cleanliness and safety of the roadways by ensuring that outside paved shoulders, gore areas, and ramps are properly swept and debris is managed effectively.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for sweeping the outside paved shoulders, including paved gore areas and ramps at all bridge ends not protected by guardrail. The work must be performed under traffic conditions with special care to expedite operations and prevent hazardous conditions. Work cannot occur between 6:00 A.M. - 8:00 A.M. or 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M.

Unit prices must include all necessary equipment, tools, labor, traffic control, monitoring, and other incidentals for completion. The contractor must use a broom type sweeper (e.g., Eglin Eagle) with dust control capabilities and provide a buffer truck with an impact attenuator. All debris removal and disposal during operations are the responsibility of the vendor, who must comply with federal, state, and local laws regarding waste disposal.

Payment will be made monthly based on unit price per shoulder mile swept.

Period of Performance
The contract will cover a period of twelve consecutive months from the date of award, with options to extend for additional twelve-month periods upon mutual agreement.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed in the North Region/Tuscumbia Area along Interstate 65 and Interstate 565 in Alabama.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must possess an Alabama General Contractor's License and provide proof of liability insurance coverage of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate. Proof of worker’s compensation insurance is also required. Bidders are restricted from subcontracting any portion of the work under this contract.
