US Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation Science (EROS) center - Science Support Services Contract (SSSC) provides scientific support and research services to EROS science programs. Work performed includes research and support in hydrology, geology, geography, climatology, ecology, forestry, remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial modeling, mathematics, statistics, and computer science. Tasks address land monitoring, land cover change assessments, early warning of hazards such as wildfires, droughts, floods, hurricanes, and famine, as well as projects related to fews net, drought monitoring, watersmart, and surface urban heat island analysis.
