Grant Description
Application purpose: The St. Johns River Ferry Regional Connectivity Project (the project) is a package of improvements to the St. Johns River Ferry between historic coastal communities in the Jacksonville Florida region.
The St. Johns River Ferry provides the Northeast Florida region with enhanced connectivity and a reliable sustainable transportation option.
The project includes sustainability and operational improvements including a new low-emission vessel and upgrades to the current fueling system.
These improvements are essential to ensuring people have reliable safe and efficient mobility outside the downtown core.
Activities performed: This project will include the design and purchase of a new low-emission vessel and upgrades to the current fueling system.
Expected outcomes: This initiative not only aims to improve mobility and connectivity but also seeks to mitigate environmental impacts and support the resilience and development of a community faced with persistent poverty and historical disadvantages.
Intended beneficiaries: Our customers and community partners within the Jacksonville urbanized area and our regional partnerships.

THE PASSENGER FERRY PROGRAM PROVIDES FUNDING TO IMPROVE THE CONDITION AND QUALITY OF EXISTING PASSENGER FERRY SERVICES SUPPORT THE ESTABLISHMENT OF NEW PASSENGER FERRY SERVICES AND REPAIR AND MODERNIZE FERRY BOATS TERMINALS AND RELATED FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT.
