Background
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is designing a new initiative called the USAID Multi-Sector Nutrition Activity. This activity aims to improve nutrition outcomes among the Congolese population, particularly focusing on women of reproductive age and children under five in rural and hard-to-reach communities.

The initiative aligns with the National Strategic Multi-sectoral Nutrition Plan of DRC (2023-2030) and aims to address malnutrition and food insecurity exacerbated by various socio-economic challenges.

Grant Details
The Multi-Sector Nutrition Activity will involve several key tasks:
1. Support USAID/DRC efforts to enhance nutrition outcomes through integrated services across health, agriculture, water security, sanitation, hygiene, education, and private sector engagement.
2. Strengthen local capacity to plan and implement multi-sectoral nutrition interventions.
3. Foster community resilience by promoting diverse and nutritious food availability while addressing social and cultural norms that inhibit equitable access to nutrition.
4. Establish functional multi-sectoral nutrition groups at provincial and zonal levels by the end of the cooperative agreement.
5. Generate qualitative and quantitative evidence on effective interventions to guide policymakers in adapting programs for areas with limited nutrition services.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include organizations with experience in implementing multi-sectoral nutrition programs, particularly those that can demonstrate capacity-building approaches within local communities in DRC. Preference may be given to organizations with established partnerships with local entities or those that have previously worked in similar contexts.

Period of Performance
The anticipated period of performance for this activity is five years, subject to availability of funds.

Grant Value
The total value of the grant has not been specified; however, it is expected that individual awards will be made based on project proposals that align with USAID's objectives.

Place of Performance
The activities will be conducted in four provinces: Kongo Central, Kasai Central, Lomami, and Sud Kivu.
