The purpose of this notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) is to invite R03 applications to support archiving and documenting existing data sets in order to enable secondary analysis of these data by the scientific community. The priority of this program is to archive data sets within the scientific mission of the NICHD; highest priority is to archive data collected with NICHD support.
Background
The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and leads research to understand human development, improve reproductive health, enhance the lives of children and adolescents, and optimize abilities for all.

This funding opportunity aims to support the archiving and documentation of existing data sets to enable secondary analysis by the scientific community, with a priority on data collected with NICHD funding.

Grant Details
The grant supports activities related to archiving existing data sets within NICHD's scientific mission. Key tasks include:
- Archiving data from completed clinical trials, including extracting, cleaning, de-identifying, and sharing complementary data.
- Developing population health, socio-behavioral, and demographic data that meet international documentation standards.
- Cleaning and harmonizing existing clinical data across multiple datasets.
- Enhancing existing data resources for broader use.
- Creating accessible datasets from controlled access data that cannot be publicly shared due to sensitive information.
- Archiving data from awards active in FY22 or earlier that plan to submit competing continuations. Grantees must ensure confidentiality protections for research subjects and make final data available to researchers by the end of the award period.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligible applicants include higher education institutions (public/state controlled, private), nonprofits (with or without 501(c)(3) status), for-profit organizations (including small businesses), local/state/county governments, tribal governments, federal agencies, independent school districts, public housing authorities, faith-based organizations, regional organizations.

Period of Performance
The maximum project period is 2 years.

Grant Value
Application budgets are limited to $50,000 in direct costs per year. The total value of grants awarded will depend on NIH appropriations and the number of meritorious applications received.
