NOAA SHIP PISCES AIR DRYER FOUNATION INSTALLATION

1. Scope

1.1 Install a new foundation for the new Air Dryer for NOAA Ship PISCES

3.1 One (QTY 1) Beko RAHT100 Air Dryer (estimated cost $4,000)

4 Requirements:

4.1. Tag out the air compressors. Tag out the old Air Dryer.

4.2. All shipboard welding shall be performed by ABS certified welders using ABS approved
weld procedures. Weld certifications and welding procedures shall be turned over to
COR prior to start of work.

4.3. Remove the old air dryer from the vessel. Remove old foundation obstructions for the

new foundation.

4.4. Fabricate and install a new, stand-alone foundation to support the new RAHT100 High
inlet Temperature Refrigerated Air Dryer. New Air Dryer dimensions are: 20-inches
wide x 20-inches depth x 52-inches height. Total new Air Dryer weight is 134 pounds.

4.5. New foundation shall be separate from the Air Compressor foundation to prevent

vibration from damaging the new Air Dryer.

4.6. New foundation shall be fitted with resilient mounts. One type of suggested resilient

mount is the Christie & Grey Cushyfloat Model 17/1600/I-55 (or similar). Stainless steel
hardware shall be used.

4.7. Relocate the air compressor start/stop controllers so they are not obstructed by the new
Air Dryer. Contractor is responsible for structural foundation or electrical modifications
required for controller relocation. Photograph of existing start/stop controllers is
provided below:

4.8. Install the new Air Dryer.

4.9. Modify the inlet and discharge piping as needed to aid installation of the new air dryer

and new air hoses. Schedule 80 piping and fittings shall be used.

Install new stainless steel jacketed air hoses (rated for a minimum of 500 PSI) on

the air dryer inlet and discharge. New hoses shall be tested & tagged with system test
pressure, date of pressure test, and name of test facility.

Government will provide the OEM to assist with system commissioning.

Touch up all disturbed insulation and paint all new and disturbed surfaces.
Contractor shall provide all insulation and paint. Paint is PPG Amercoat 229 (or
approved equal).

5.1. COR shall inspect new foundation prior to painting.

5.2. Test and operate the Air Compressors to ensure proper operation.

5.3. Government provided OEM technician shall test and operate the air dryer after system

commissioning.

6. Notes

6.1. Ship’s force will be available to operate Ship’s Cranes for any required lifts.
