Government Description
CHICKAMAUGA LOCK CHAMBER - BASE CONTRACT. THE WORK INVOLVES CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES FOR A REPLACEMENT NAVIGATION LOCK CHAMBER AT THE CHICKAMAUGA LOCK AND DAM ON THE TENNESSEE RIVER IN CHATTANOOGA, TN, INCLUDING NEW LANDWARD AND RIVERWARD CONCRETE LOCK WALLS, INSTALLATION OF MITER GATES, CULVERT VALVES, BULKHEADS, AND OTHER ANCILLARY ITEMS. MAJOR TASKS INCLUDE SITE EXCAVATION, SET-UP AND OPERATION OF A CONCRETE BATCH PLANT, TREMIE AND MASS CONCRETE PLACEMENTS, DEWATERING OF COFFERED AREAS, INSTALLATION OF REINFORCED CONCRETE DRILLED SHAFTS AND EMBEDDED METALS, FABRICATION AND INSTALLATION OF STRUCTURAL STEEL COMPONENTS, INSTALLATION OF GOVERNMENT-FURNISHED PRE-FABRICATED LOCK COMPONENTS, ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS FOR IN-RIVER OPERATIONS, STRUCTURAL INSTRUMENTATION, ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL SYSTEMS, CONSTRUCTION OF THE LOCK OPERATION BUILDING, MARINE-BASED EXPLORATORY DRILLING, AND NEW LOCK TESTING/COMMISSIONING. SITE SURVEYING IS ALSO BEING PERFORMED AS PART OF THIS CONTRACT.
