Abstract
Service Robotics & Technologies (SRT Labs) was competitively selected for the Department of Navy's SBIR ADAPT Phase II Program for Facility Health Monitoring and Prioritization, where SRT Labs worked with the objective of determining the parameters of a successful smart facility deployment in improving workflow, reducing machine and shop downtime, and establishing the needed criteria to uptake actionable information for two base locations. SRT Labs has developed a flexible software framework to bring essential legacy infrastructure into a unified data management ecosystem. Our M1 Platform integrates collaborative robotics and smart sensors with existing software and hardware infrastructure to create an ecosystem for all smart devices, regardless of manufacturer. The M1 is a patented map-based system that allows facility managers, operations personnel, and decision makers to view systems of sensors across a deployment in map view, which can scale from a single building to a complete city. Having data from disparate systems consolidated into a single platform allows users to monitor and automate across an urban environment and provide neighborhood-scale analytics on metrics that affect climate. With prior experience in deployments through government contracts and in the private sector, SRT Labs has integrated systems and datasets from cleaning robots, building automation systems, automated warehouse technology, asset tracking systems, environmental monitoring, and sensors tracking metrics including water metering, occupancy, motor vibration, and more. Using statistical analysis across these and other datasets, SRT Labs can provide concise insights and intelligence for decision makers to better allocate limited staff resources to predictive rather than reactive maintenance. Our platform is hardware agnostic and built for interoperability for hardware and software systems using a wide and growing variety of data standards. This proposed work will start by transitioning the existing deployments from pilot to permanent deployments, implementing more robust and line-powered hardware alongside a networked IT infrastructure. This proposed work will also expand the existing deployments to add functionality and capability across wider areas of the deployment locations, as well as development of new capabilities. Significant research and development effort will be made towards the advancement of technologies to transition this software to a DevSecOps platform for wider deployment across the bases to provide greater capability to the users of this software. This novel research and development effort will transition SRT's core M1 Platform capabilities from TRL 7 to TRL 9, ready for Phase III transition in a stand-alone, networked, or cloud environment, as required by the DoD customer.
Research Objective
The goal of phase II is to continue the R&D efforts initiated in Phase I. Funding is based on the results achieved in Phase I and the scientific and technical merit and commercial potential of the project proposed in Phase II.
