Definitive Contract
Overview
Government Description
ICE control enhancement with closed loop molecular design. Includes the discovery and optimization of biologically sourced or inspired molecules to inhibit or nucleate ICE crystallization, propagation, and adhesion, with subsequent formulation of novel materials for DOD cold weather applications. Efforts involve high-throughput screening of ICE adhesion for molecules and coatings, development and optimization of anti-ice coatings, and computational modeling using Machine Learning (ML) methods such as quantitative structure-activity/property relationship (QSAR/QSPR), Neural Networks (NN), and Random-Forest (RF) to predict ICE control traits. Additional tasks include the study of naturally occurring deep eutectic systems, thermal analysis, low-temperature raman spectroscopy, and in vitro frostbite prevention.
