Government Description
Mobile user objective system service life extension phase 1 provides for risk reduction and early design activities to reduce risk and uncertainty prior to entering phase 2. Includes targeted technical risk reduction deliverables, modeling, simulation, prototyping, and analysis of payload/satellite, as well as conducting a combined System Requirements Review/System Functional Review (SRR/SFR) and an Early Design Review (EDR). Additional tasks involve developing cost, schedule, and technical forecasts for the final design, build, test, and launch of muos satellites, and supporting efforts such as uhf onet phase 1 non-recurring engineering, mimd processor development, diplexer engineering, and related labor. Work will primarily be performed at vendor facilities, with possible locations including Space Systems Command (SSC) offices in Los Angeles, SSC/cgn offices in san diego, General Dynamics in scottsdale, and naval air systems command in port hueneme.

This Phase 1 contract provides for risk reduction and early design activities to reduce risk and uncertainty prior to entering MUOS SLE Phase 2. Work will be performed at the contractors' facilities and is expected to be completed by July 31, 2025. These contracts were competitive acquisitions, and three offers were received. Fiscal 2023 research, development, test, and evaluation funds in the amount of $23,000,000 ($11,500,000 per awardee) are being obligated at time of award.
