Government Description
THIS ACTION IS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF TWO (2) SOLAR WIND PLASMA SENSOR (SWIPS) FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS. THE SOLAR WIND PLASMA SENSOR IS USED TO MEASURE SOLAR WIND, PROVIDING EARLY WARNING OF CHANGES AFFECTING THE GEOMAGNETIC ENVIRONMENT BY CHARACTERIZING CORONAL MASS EJECTIONS (CMES), COROTATING INTERACTION REGIONS (CIRS), INTERPLANETARY SHOCKS, AND HIGH-SPEED FLOWS ASSOCIATED WITH CORONAL HOLES. WORK INCLUDES DESIGNING, ANALYZING, DEVELOPING, FABRICATING, INTEGRATING, TESTING, VERIFYING, EVALUATING, SUPPORTING LAUNCH, SUPPLYING AND MAINTAINING INSTRUMENT GROUND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT (GSE), AND SUPPORTING MISSION OPERATIONS AT THE NOAA SATELLITE OPERATIONS FACILITY (NSOF). THE CONTRACTOR WILL ALSO CONDUCT RESEARCH, SUBMIT MONTHLY PROGRESS REPORTS ADDRESSING TECHNICAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS, STATUS OF DELIVERABLES, OVERALL PROGRESS, RISKS OR PROBLEMS, PROPOSED CORRECTIVE ACTIONS, AND PROJECTED WORK ACTIVITIES, AND PROVIDE A FINAL REPORT SUMMARIZING CONTRACT RESULTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS.
