NCEI science support. Supports scientific data stewardship, product development, and user engagement services for the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) science enterprise, including developing systems for data acquisition, ingestion, archiving, quality control, metadata definition, documentation, archival preservation, and tailored data access services such as web portals and GIS mapping. Includes operational updates and stewardship for multiple climate data records (CDRS), such as total solar irradiance, solar spectral irradiance, passive microwave imager, mw sounder, snow cover extent, persiann-cdr, precipitation (gpcp and cmorph), mw sounder window channels, outgoing longwave radiation, polar pathfinder, sea ICE concentration, and patmos-x, with responsibilities for maintaining, updating, and transitioning cdr versions, addressing errors, and complying with configuration management processes. Additional efforts include the development and transition of new cdr versions, intercalibration of sensors, and the adaptation and evaluation of generative ai tools for the National Climate Assessment (NCA) use case, including the development of a prototype application for natural language interaction with NCA content.
