Description

The Department of the Treasury, through the General Services Administration (GSA), is conducting market research to renew and maintain its existing Gigamon appliance software and related hardware for the Internal Revenue Service's Cybersecurity Operations. The primary focus of this initiative is to support the IRS Cybersecurity Operations Computer Security Incident Response Center (CSIRC) and the Network Management Control Center (NMCC). These centers utilize Gigamon appliances to enhance intrusion detection capabilities and ensure secure packet distribution through the Trusted Internet Connection (TIC) Common Communication Gateway (CCG).

The Gigamon appliances are critical components within the IRS's cybersecurity infrastructure, playing a vital role in monitoring network traffic across multiple locations, including Ogden, UT; Martinsburg, WV; Memphis, TN; New Carrollton, MD; Detroit, MI; Austin, TX; Kansas City, MO; Covington, KY; Fresno, CA; Andover, MA; Chamblee, GA; Brookhaven, NY; and Philadelphia, PA. This broad deployment ensures compliance with Department of Homeland Security mandates for TIC certification. Furthermore, these appliances facilitate data communication across various IRS platforms and applications essential for operational efficiency.

The scope of work outlined in this solicitation includes renewing licenses and providing maintenance for existing Gigamon hardware and software. Specific tasks involve supplying necessary hardware components and licensing to maintain proprietary products currently integrated into the IRS network infrastructure. The renewal will cover various subscription licenses that enable advanced features on devices such as GigaVUE-TA200 ports and GigaSMART modules.

Overall goals include ensuring that all TIC locations are effectively monitored by CSIRC's Gigamon infrastructure while maintaining compliance with TIC 3.0 standards. This initiative underscores the importance of robust cybersecurity measures in safeguarding sensitive data across a vast network landscape integral to IRS operations.
