Mapping Magneto Optical Kerr Effect (MOKE) System

ID: RFQ_2023-006424 • Type: Solicitation

Description

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is requesting quotes for the subject specifications as described in the Specifications Sheet (Attachment 1). The specifications as outlined in the Attachment 1 serve as NREL's baseline requirements that must be met by each offer. A Quantity of one (1) is being requested.

Background
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is requesting quotes for a Magneto Optical Kerr Effect (MOKE) System. The system is intended to be used as a high-throughput instrument to provide rapid daily feedback to Materials Scientists at NREL. The system shall be capable of collecting hysteresis loops on both soft and hard magnetic materials in multiple modes and must support spatially varying materials over the surface of a wafer.

Work Details
The MOKE system must have a minimum mappable sample area of 2” x 2”, longitudinal, transverse, and polar Kerr effect detection, low power standard laser (class 3R or less), demonstrated low intensity noise and polarization variability, system spatial resolution of <10 microns with <1 mm mapping capability, rapid acquisition time of >1 frame/second, high field (>0.5T) capability for measurements on hard magnetic materials, capability for high temperature operation up to at least 400°C, and control software that can generate optical images and correlate with spatially resolved BH.
All power supply products and components must be classified as “Underwriters Laboratories (UL)” Standards and meet all NREL required safety standards. The MOKE System equipment must be listed by an approved Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), or field evaluation performed by an approved NRTL. The main unit must be mountable on an optical table with < 1m x 1m footprint, support electronics must fit in one bench-height 19” electronics rack, and the system controller/computer can be separate.

Place of Performance
Delivery to be at NREL’s Receiving, 16253 Denver West Parkway, Golden, CO 80401.
