Hemodialysis Water Testing

Background
The contract is issued by the VA Long Beach Healthcare System (VALBHCS) for hemodialysis water testing services. The goal of this contract is to ensure the safety and quality of water used in hemodialysis procedures, adhering to established medical standards.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide hemodialysis water testing services including Bacteria/Colony Count and LAL/Endotoxin tests. Services must include all necessary sample collection supplies, consumables, and equipment.

Specific tasks include: performing 63 Bacteria/Colony Count tests per month with a 48-hour incubation period, and 63 LAL/Endotoxin tests per month. All tests must be conducted on a weekly/monthly basis. The contractor must provide detailed service reports that include date of service, sample ID, test name, environmental results, reference range, and vendor comments. Reports must be approved by Biomedical Engineering personnel and sent to the Lead Medical Instrument Technician or their designee.

The contractor is responsible for correcting any testing errors at no additional cost. Test results must be reported within specified timeframes: LAL Endotoxin results within 48 hours and Bacteria/Colony Count results within 3-4 days. Immediate communication is required for any results above action levels.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence shortly after award for a one-year base period with the option to exercise four additional one-year periods, totaling five years.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System.
