Description

The Department of Justice (DOJ), in collaboration with the General Services Administration (GSA), is conducting market research to enhance the Federal Bureau of Prisons' (BOP) national enterprise radio network. This initiative aims to establish a fully redundant dual Core system at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Leavenworth. The primary goal is to ensure operational continuity and provide Core-level backup for FCC Victorville and FCC Allenwood, thereby maintaining uninterrupted communications during system failures or planned maintenance.

The scope of work for this project involves a comprehensive range of tasks that require the contractor to furnish all necessary labor, supervision, materials, tools, equipment, and services. The contractor will be responsible for designing, installing, testing, and commissioning a fully operational Dual-Redundant Core Radio System at FCI Leavenworth. Key components of this project include constructing and installing a 100-foot self-supporting radio tower with its base, a concrete pad for a hardened shelter, antennas, grounding systems, and integrating these with existing enterprise Core systems at other locations.

Furthermore, the system must be fully interoperable with both LTE and non-LTE subscribers while maintaining backward compatibility with legacy Smartnet systems pending upgrades. The contractor is also tasked with ensuring complete system integration through functional testing as well as providing training and documentation for BOP personnel. This project underscores the DOJ's commitment to enhancing communication reliability across its facilities.
