Description

The U.S. Department of the Interior, through the General Services Administration (GSA), is conducting market research to assess capabilities for a comprehensive vegetation management and caretaking services contract. This initiative falls under the Bureau of Reclamation's Western Colorado Area Office, specifically targeting the Animas-La Plata Project (ALP) Area in La Plata and Montezuma Counties, Colorado. The main goal of this project is to support the implementation of the Colorado Ute Indian Water Rights Settlement Act, while ensuring ecological balance and infrastructure maintenance in this region.

The scope of work involves several key tasks aimed at maintaining and enhancing the ALP Project Area, which includes Ridges Basin (Lake Nighthorse) and designated Mitigation Lands. A primary task is updating the 2020 ALP Project Area Weed Assessment and Integrated Weed Management Plan to address invasive species control through targeted treatments and supplemental seeding. Additionally, contractors will be responsible for conducting a thorough fence assessment, mapping out existing structures, removing interior fences where necessary, and carrying out ongoing fence monitoring and repairs.

Beyond vegetation management, caretaking services encompass regular site boundary patrols to prevent trespassing as well as maintenance activities across various infrastructures within both Ridges Basin and Mitigation Lands. This includes farm plot seeding, irrigation system upkeep, ditch maintenance, as well as water well and tank servicing. Contractors are also expected to produce annual reports documenting activities conducted throughout the year while ensuring compliance with cultural resource sensitivity guidelines by developing a comprehensive safety plan.
