Description

CWMD is conducting market research to obtain information about networking and data streaming capability of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Maritime Variant (gamma and neutron detection) PRDs that meet the requirements in Attachment 1 (Attachment 1 provides the requirements by which CWMD may assess technical performance of candidate maritime variant PRDs pursuant to a Solicitation, if issued). Vendors are to indicate which requirements are met and not met in Attachment 1.

Background
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office (CWMD) is focused on detecting and protecting against the unauthorized use of nuclear and radiological materials in the United States.

The CWMD continually develops and procures radiation detection equipment to enhance domestic security and assist law enforcement agencies in strengthening detection capabilities across various pathways of global commerce.

This Request for Information (RFI) seeks to gather insights on Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Maritime Variant Personal Radiation Detectors (PRDs) that can meet specific technical requirements.

Work Details
Vendors are requested to provide information regarding their PRD Maritime Variant devices, including:
- Pictures of the device.
- A technical description, including product literature and specifications.
- An indication of whether the device meets the requirements outlined in Attachment 1, with explanations for any unmet requirements.
- Details on networking and data streaming capabilities, including methods, protocols, and standards used for connection to the DHS network.
- Information on additional hardware/software needed for networking capabilities.
- Automatic data transmission capabilities regarding system identification, geospatial location, system health, alarm results, radiation readings, and alarm analysis results.
- Data streaming specifics such as rate, format, security standards, and whether wireless capability can be disabled.
- Discussion on impacts of firmware changes when integrating wireless communication functionalities into previously tested devices.
- Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates for unit pricing and potential costs associated with data streaming/networking functionalities.
- Production capacity details and quality assurance plans.
