Cryocoolers for Advanced Light Source Upgrade (ALS-U) Insertion Device Beamline (IDBL)

Background
The University of California, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) is requesting a proposal for cryocoolers built to LBNL specifications in support of the ALS-U project. This solicitation is governed by procurement policies and procedures established under the University’s Prime Contract No. DE-AC02-05CH11231 with the U.S. Government, represented by the Department of Energy (DOE), for management and operation of LBNL.

Work Details
This acquisition is for 2 (two) cryocoolers with the option to 2 (two) additional cryocoolers built to LBNL specifications outlined in the attached document titled TS: Cryocooler for ALS-U, IDBL, in support of the ALS-U project. The subcontractor must deliver recirculating cryocoolers to supply pressurized liquid nitrogen to the High Heat Load Optic (HHLO) White beam mirror (M1) system. The required work must also include project management, fabrication, control, shipping, and quality assurance activities.

Period of Performance
It is expected that the Subcontract will be performed over a period of 61 weeks for the first 2 cryocoolers. These first 2 items are expected to be delivered 15 months after receipt of order (ARO). The delivery schedule for the optional cryocoolers will be mutually agreed upon with the successful Offeror prior to Subcontract award.

Place of Performance
The cryocoolers are to be delivered to support the ALS-U project at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
