Description

The General Services Administration (GSA), on behalf of the United States Army, is conducting market research to identify potential contractors capable of installing a Mini-Split Air Conditioning System at the Center for Army Analysis located in Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. This project aims to enhance the cooling efficiency and comfort within specified areas of the facility, aligning with broader goals of improving infrastructure and operational environments for military personnel and associated activities.

The scope of work involves comprehensive mechanical and electrical tasks necessary for the successful installation and operation of a Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system. On the first floor, contractors are required to install four ceiling-hung cassette units within a conference room, along with a branch controller box for managing the VRF system. An outdoor 6-ton heat pump unit will be positioned outside along the back wall to support future expansion needs. The second floor requires the installation of a 3-ton smart multi-heat pump condenser on the roof, with subsequent refrigerant lines running to two additional cassettes in another conference room. This includes setting up condensation pumps and drain lines to ensure efficient operation.

Electrical work is also integral to this project, involving connections for both outdoor condensing units and indoor cassette units across two floors. Each unit will require dedicated circuits from existing panelboards, local switches for disconnecting means, and appropriate circuit breakers installed in panelboards. The mixing box will also need electrical connections with new circuits provided from existing sources.

Contractors must comply with all relevant federal, state, and local standards while performing their duties during standard business hours. They must adhere strictly to security protocols at Ft. Belvoir and ensure any deficiencies in service are promptly addressed upon notification by designated authorities. This initiative not only promises improved environmental control within critical areas but also underscores a commitment to maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements throughout its execution.
