It is the intent of NREL to award one (1) Purchase Order under this solicitation. NREL seeks to recapitalize and upgrade its 1MW grid simulator system. NREL seeks to remove existing grid emulator and in its place install a modern 4-quadrant voltage and current source capable of both grid emulation as well as large Distributed Energy Resource (DER) inverter or generator emulation. The upgraded equipment will be located in the existing footprint. The list of required and preferred specifications is described in Attachment No. 1 Technical Specifications.

Background
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) seeks to recapitalize and upgrade its 1MW grid simulator system. The upgraded equipment will be located in the existing footprint. The solicitation is being conducted under the procedures for competitive purchases established by NREL, and the award will be based on best value selection.

Work Details
NREL seeks to remove existing grid emulator and install a modern 4-quadrant voltage and current source capable of both grid emulation as well as large Distributed Energy Resource (DER) inverter or generator emulation. The list of required and preferred specifications is described in Attachment No. 1 – Technical Specifications.
Specific products to be manufactured or delivered under the contract include specifications for voltage, current, frequency range, control modes, signal interfaces, networking performance, safety interlocks, thermal management system, technical support, delivery timeline, certifications, and price justification.

Period of Performance
The due date for submission of quotes is 12/20/2023 at 5 PM Mountain Time.

Place of Performance
The upgraded equipment will be located at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), 15013 Denver West Parkway, MS: RSF030, Golden, CO 80401.
