Overview
Description
EM24 NSWC BLDG 198 FIND MORE EFFICIENT WAY TO TURN LIGHTS ON AND OFF- EXECUTE 23457202
WHAT: more efficient way to turn lights on and off
WHEN: 1/30/24
WHERE: B198 front, center and back dock
WHY:
Due to the electrical set-up of this building, employees are required each morning to turn on the bay operational lights via 4 different breaker panels and each evening to turn off the bay operational lights via 4 different breaker panels. This set-up is not safe as employees are at greater risk of arc flash exposure when opening these breakers more frequently, along with being exposed to lower lighting conditions while attempting to turn on the lighting for these areas. Employees frequently wear conductive type safety shoes when turning on lights from the breaker. which would only increase the hazard. Finally, over time, the springs in the breaker could wear out, degrading the intended safety purpose of breaker systems.
