NSN V-88 ROOF DRAIN LINES REPAIR & FLOODING

Type: Forecast

Overview

Description
ENGINEERING ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED EMERGENCY CONTRACT ACTION NEEDED: Every time it rains the drain line gets backed up and starts coming up through a manhole in the High Voltage room and runs into the hanger under a trainer/simulator at a high flow rate. SHOP COMMENTS: Please see attached images for the storm water lines at V88. As you can see the line has been concreted over. I circled where utilities believes the roof drain in the area of the building connects. The number of hours we spent on this ticket is about to exceed the 40hr limit. If further investigation is required, we will need another ticket to work. Please let Steve or me know the plan moving forward. SECOND SCOPE SHOP COMMENTS: We had two Techs over at V88 trying to camera the roof drains through the stack coming down from the roof. The problem is the old plumbing would not allow the camera to travel past the tee at the connection of the stack and the main. The tee is not the same as new DWV fittings in which it directs the snake/camera in the direction of flow. They did however find a hole in the floor of the high voltage room and was able to get the camera under the floor. What They discovered was that the main drain line was broke in half and hanging down, also the water has undermined the dirt and gravel from under the high voltage room as well. My belief is that the pipe is not clog but instead just draining under the building. With that the best option in my opinion would be reroute the roof drains in a different way. Unfortunately, the shops cannot handle a job of this magnitude. This is a CNIC funded project.
