Overview
Description
The scope of work under this Statement of Work (SOW) is to acquire four heavy equipment mechanics to support the Del Rio Sector Fleet Department. As outlined in table 7.0 Place of Performance ; two mechanics will be required at the Del Rio Sector Garage, one mechanic will be required at the Carrizo Springs Station Garage, and one mechanic at the Eagle Pass North Garage. The mechanics are responsible for determining the cause of malfunctions and making repairs, and modifications to a variety of heavy-duty vehicles and mobile equipment, within their assigned area, that have utility systems or special hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems, features, or controls.
From oral assignments, work orders, manufacturer's specifications, and accepted trade
practices, mechanics determines causes of mechanical operating problems, traces and locates
defects, and makes repairs to a full range of systems on heavy mobile equipment and vehicles.
The mechanics conducts functional and performance tests on completed work assignments.
Work is performed on heavy vehicles and equipment such as buses, bulldozers, road graders, rollers,
and similar heavy construction and earth moving vehicles; front-end loaders, backhoes, powered shovels, and various other heavy special purpose vehicles. This equipment has mechanical, hydraulic,
pneumatic, and electric systems, controls, or features not commonly found on automobiles and
ordinary transport trucks and buses.
This work includes overhauling or rebuilding one system on a wide range of vehicles
or equipment such as diesel, gasoline, and other types of internal combustion engines,
automatic and non-automated transmissions; heavy duty drive line systems; and/or hydraulic
utility systems and controls. The work may include repairs made on one type of major system
located on one of the vehicles considered to be a member of a higher-level group of vehicles.
Due to ongoing border security operations and the increased demand for additional mechanics due to DRT s workload, this contract will be funded using base funding. This increased demand justifies the use of surge funding as this requirement for four contract heavy mechanics would not be needed given under normal workloads. Heavy equipment is deployed to the field on a constant basis which increases maintenance and repair intervals on CBP assets.
